  • Vincent Ang (NTU/Comp Eng)
  • Wei Ming (NUS/Comp Eng)
  • Hui Hui (SMU/ISM)
MIT 2004
  • Khai Cher (NUS/Computing)
  • Deen (NUS/Computing)
MIT 2005
  • Xuan Yi (SMU/ISM)
  • Haleem (Army)

Special thanks to Hui Hui who took leave from her work to come for the session. We sure hope you find all the sharing to be beneficial and useful. In the future, some of you can also come back and share with your juniors as well.

Just to recap a bit, some of the points shared include the importance of making friends from all faculties and making sure that study is not the only thing to do in campus, preparing yourself physically and mentally for national service, brushing up on mathematics/calculus and not missing the U application deadlines.

Here are some photos of the session.

It is said during the talk that we should mix around with other people from other faculties(schools). We don't seem to have the opportunity.

The only way seems to be through CCAs and activities organised by CCAs. Other than that, there's no other visible way to do so that encourages us to interact with other people.

Maybe I'm not observant enough?

Hi Profire, thanks for your comments. To clarify, your seniors were sharing about the need to mix around when you are in Uni. However, I also think that 'mixing' around should also starts from here. From what I observed, most Poly-wide activities are indeed organised via CCAs channels and hence, you are right in that aspect. Apart from CCAs, there are probably other informal occasions when you can interact with students from other schools. For example, step into the basketball courts often enough and you will probably make friends from other schools. Join in the various lunchtime performances and you just might meet some like-minded people. Opportunities are always there, it is just whether we want to afford the time, energy and in taking the initiative. Just recently, I had a bit of a tough time just to persuade students to join in a inter-school dialogue session. All of them claimed that they are very busy with their studies. :(

Do you have any idea in mind ? Please feel free to share them. Thanks. OLT
